CNC cutting on the Bullmer cutter is the foundation of our production. The machine automatically cuts up to 80 plies of fabric to a CAD file, holding an accuracy of ±0.3 mm. As a result every batch is repeatable, and material waste drops by 5 to 15 per cent against hand cutting. The CNC cutting service is used not only by our contract clients but also by external plants and brands that sew in house but outsource the cutting.

How the cutting process runs
From a CAD file in DXF or AAMA we prepare the cutting marker, optimising material use. We then lay the plies of fabric on the cutting table with vacuum hold-down, and the CNC knife cuts every element in one operation. Each batch is marked with a label identifying model, size and colour – which removes mix-ups at the later sewing stages.
CNC cutting for external plants
We provide cutting alone, without sewing: if you run your own sewing room but need a repeatable marker from a deep lay of material, send us the CAD file and the material, and we send back finished packs of parts with descriptions. It is a popular service among smaller streetwear brands and specialist plants.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the Bullmer cutter?
As standard ±0.3 mm on every element of the pattern, regardless of position on the cutting table. The accuracy holds deep into a multi-ply lay as well, which removes the typical problem of hand cutting – deformation of the lower plies.
Can I come and see the cutting process?
Yes, for clients planning long-term cooperation we arrange reference visits to the plant. Just arrange a date by phone.
Which fabrics are difficult even on CNC?
Very slippery materials such as some nylon linings need paper between the plies. Very elastic fabrics with a high elastane content cut better with minimal hold-down pressure – that is when accuracy is highest.
