Pattern plotting is the stage between the pattern maker’s work and the cutting room. The CAD file goes to the plotter, which prints the pattern 1:1 on paper or drives the CNC cutter directly. Only then can the pattern maker and technologist physically verify sizes, fit and the layout of the pattern on the material before production cutting.

Why optimising the marker pays off
A good marker reduces material waste by several percentage points. With multi-ply cutting that gain multiplies – every ply saved saves across the whole length of the cutting table, usually eight to twelve metres. For a brand producing thousands of pieces a year, the difference between a good and a poor marker is real money.

Frequently asked questions
Which file formats do you accept?
As standard DXF and AAMA as industry formats, and PLT for the plotter. We also accept PDF files with accurate dimensioning – conversion is done for an additional fee.
Do you take on grading alone?
Yes. We have pattern makers who will grade from a base size across the whole size chart – EU 36 to 58, US sizes and children’s sizes. Grading is done in the CAD system and saved to a file for further use.
Does every production need a plotted pattern?
Practically yes. The 1:1 paper plot is the last moment for the pattern maker and technologist to verify dimensions and fit before production cutting. Skipping this step often leads to material losses.
